Slidell is my Northshore anchor, and the work out here is genuinely different from inland Baton Rouge. There is far more waterfront wood, which means docks, boat lifts, decks and the boats and trailers that go with them. That is work I enjoy and it is where cleaning and staining go hand in hand.
Why exteriors get dirty here
St. Tammany Parish adds standing water and constant damp to the usual Louisiana heat, humidity and heavy rain. Wood that sits over water almost never dries out, so dock boards green over first, decks go grey and slick, and boats and trailers collect mildew on top of the road grime and pollen. Waterfront wood needs cleaning at the right pressure and it needs to dry properly before any stain touches it, which is why I handle both halves of that job myself.
